WINDOW: Tauranga Woodcrafters Guild - 12 - 22 November
You may remember last month our window was adorned with the woodwork of the Home School Students and ‘Family Works’ Thursday students who attend the Tauranga Woodcrafters Guild Inc. Today and for the next two weeks, the Creative Bay Of Plenty window is displaying the beautifully crafted works from the members of the Tauranga Woodcrafters Guild in preparation for their upcoming annual exhibition. The group are hobby woodworkers who enjoy sharing their love of wood and skills with one another and anyone who wants to learn.

EVENT: CBOP 'Gramming' From The Gardens
Tickets are only $35 for the day pass or $65 for the 4 days!
Come and celebrate the beauty and diversity of our region's gardens and the creativity of talented artists. With 70 beautiful gardens and more than 50 magnificent artists, these will be shown off from the 15th - 18th November 2018. The artists will display their pieces throughout gardens and galleries located around Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty. You will also experience fascinating landscape gardens and more of the artists' work at the festival hub "Bloom in the Bay" in the Historic Village.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Trustpower Photographic Competition challenges amateur and professional photographers across New Zealand to share moments of beauty. This year, they are asking entrants to submit their photos under one overarching theme: FINDING BEAUTY
OPPORTUNITY: NZ Society of Authors/Auckland Museum Research Grant + Residency
Applications are now open for a $5000 research grant and residency for writers wishing to work on a project that will utilise the resources of the Auckland Museum Library as part of the manuscript’s development. The grant also offers the recipient the opportunity to take up four weeks funded accommodation at the Michael King Writers’ Centre in Devonport.
This grant + residency is offered by the Auckland War Memorial Museum and NZ Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc) and can be used for fiction and non-fiction projects.
OPPORTUNITY: Fresh Ink - A Collection of Voices from Aotearoa New Zealand
With the success of their first anthology in 2017, Fresh Ink - A Collection of Voices from Aotearoa New Zealand 2017, Cloud Ink Press are excited to again be taking submissions for the second in the series to be published in late 2019. The anthology will contain works across a range of fields and genres. Cloud Ink Press invites writers to submit entries, which can be: prose (fiction or creative non-fiction), poetry, illustrated stories or flash fiction. The submissions can be standalone works or an extract from a longer work. The maximum word limit, per story, is 4000 words, and the cost per entry is $30 (although for shorter works, such as poetry or flash fiction, you may submit up to three entries for the single submission fee).
Submissions are open to all New Zealanders, who are either living in New Zealand or have a New Zealand passport, and will close on the 23rd of December.
WORKSHOP: Kilnformed Glass Vessels with Jo Tricker
When: 22-25 November 2018
Where: Unit 5 Oak Lane (back of Steve's Plumbing Building) - Judea Industrial Estate, Tauranga
This workshop will illustrate how to use the heat and gravity of a kiln to form a beautiful glass vessel. To begin with, you will make a set of colour samples which will form the basis of your design for your final piece, and which can also be kept for future reference. Bullseye glass sheet, frit, powder, and stringer are the glass materials that will be used throughout the four days. An in-depth session on glass cutting and an introduction to coldworking will also be taught, as well as a presentation on the many other techniques that can be used to make kilnformed glass art. At the end of this course, you will go home with a beautiful glass vessel that you have made yourself!

EVENT: 36 Degrees Fashion and Art Exhibition
When: Friday, 16 November 2018 from 18:00-21:00
Where: Toi Ohomai, Windermere Campus - 70 Windermere Dr, Tauranga
Thirty Six Degrees is the graduating event for the Bachelor of Creative Industries class of 2018. Entry to the Visual Arts and Graphic Design exhibition is free from 6pm to 7.30pm, and will be followed by a fashion show for Fashion Design from 7.30pm to 9pm. Tickets for the fashion show are $25 and will be available for purchase from the Toi Ohomai information office at Windermere Campus.
After the exhibition, there will also be an after party held at Our Place Tauranga to celebrate!

Garry is exhibiting a variety of his Wood Creations at the Art Junction, 36 Main Road, Katikati, from the 12th through to the 18th of November.
"Reflections" is the name of this exhibition. Mirrors that reflect your unique self, sculptures that reflect natures uniqueness, and garden art that makes growing flowers easy.
EVENT: Handel's Messiah - Scholars Pro Musica & NZ Barok

Tickets are on sale for the 4th annual performance by Tauranga's own Scholars Pro Musica chamber choir, accompanied by NZBarok, New Zealand's professional baroque orchestra.
No other choral work has received such wide acclaim and universal acceptance. A timeless masterpiece, Messiah demands something of all who hear it as we strive to make sense of the world in which we live. This baroque-inspired performance of a seasonal favourite, Messiah, seeks to recreate Handel's original sound for small chamber choir and chamber orchestra.
Our World's Got Talent 2018 - Art Exhibition - 15th - 18th November 2018

"Our World’s Got Talent 2018” is a Pop-up exhibition which mirrors one held in 2016. It was a successful venture albeit small and gave our artist the opportunity to be seen by the wider community. Although some of the exhibitors had shown their work previously there were others for which this was their first public exhibition and this is also the case with this current Event. This year the exhibition has the added benefit of actually being on the grounds in the Village and not upstairs, so hopefully see more foot passage. Some exhibits are there solely for your viewing pleasure but others will be for sale. PLEASE BRING CASH AS THERE IS NO EFTPOS.
